THE EDINBURGH FRINGE FESTIVAL
Black Hound Productions are delighted to announce our most exciting and ambitious project to date…The Edinburgh Fringe 2022.
After the last six years of creating original pieces and developing our company, we are beginning our most challenging endeavour yet - taking two original pieces to the world renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Throughout 2022, the Black Hound Team has been preparing for the project, organising fundraisers, marketing campaigns as well as creating our beautiful pieces. We have set a target of £7000 in order to cover costs for venue, accommodation, marketing materials and production costs. Donations of any size would be hugely beneficial to us in our fundraising campaign.
Our first show is a restaging of our one-man show Alright?. A one man show exploring teenage men’s mental health, which gained fantastic reviews from audiences in 2020, before lockdown cancelled the following tour. Secondly we are bringing our newest piece, Seeds of Memories which is a lyrical, visual, and uplifting exploration of grief.
Alright? is an authentic exploration of teenage mental health, retelling the universal experience of exam stress, visits to see gran, school cricket teams and finding ways of coping. The original production was directed by Benjamin Hardy-Phillips and has now been adapted for 2022 by Cordelia Tarbrooke. This original play is an honest and quick-witted insight into living with Mental Health challenges. Withey’s quick wit, brought to life by Tom Price, promises to give you a tender, intimate theatrical experience, bringing audiences comfort, understanding and laughs.
Seeds of Memories is Black Hound Productions' most recent piece of original theatre. Recently it has felt like grief is all around us. This piece, from the 'affecting and lyrical voice' of Patrick Withey and packed to the brim with puppetry and poetry, is a wistful and uplifting exploration of the magic of memories and the feeling of loss. Share and explore the beautiful memories we all grow throughout our lives. After losing his beloved Grampy in 2020, Patrick has been developing Seeds of Memories inspired by a poem he wrote about his Grandfather when he was 14. The piece is a modern-day folk story exploring the magic of Memories and the power of Nature, through artful puppetry and lyrical storytelling.
