In early 2018, Black Hound Productions took to the stages of the Merlin Theatre, Frome and the Dragonfly Theatre, Writhlington with their Victorian adventure, 'Saviour by the Amethyst'. The show follows the life of Jacob Baxter, a miner born and bred on the Somerset coalfields, through a testing two years in the 1870s. This ambitious adventure play, inspired by boyhood adventure books, local history and influenced by the work of Michael Morpurgo showcased the company's developing expertise in staging and production.

The show was a remarkable achievement for a cast and crew all under the age of 18 and it played to two wonderfully supportive audiences.
